You’ve most certainly heard of the controversy surrounding Rush Limbaugh and his comments about the college student professional “reproductive activist“. In speaking of her statement regarding contraception (she her friend needs $3,000 to pay for it over three years), he called her a slut and a prostitute. Rush has since apologized yet it’s not good enough for her.

Liberals are going ballistic and calling for Rush to be taken off the air. They have succeeded in having multiple advertisers withdraw from his show (for the time being).

George Soros’ strongarm Media Matters is all over this, including providing a daily posting of those who advertise on his program and those that have withdrawn. Huffington Post is calling for a boycott. The DNC has chimed in, of course, stating, “The attacks coming from the GOP on women’s health are way over the line — and very dangerous.”

There are even two petitions on the tax-funded Whitehouse website that people created. One calls for the FCC to investigate Rush Limbaugh for making intimidating statements. The other calls for Rush to be removed from Armed Forces Radio for his abusive, divisive, and insulting language.

Yet I have to wonder, why are these outlets so silent when it comes to trashing conservative women? Here’s just a few examples:

Ed Schulz calls Laura Ingraham a right-wing slut

- I think I see smoke coming from his pants; they must be on fire. We all know that every time one of these terrorist plots gets broken up we hear every detail in the news. If this program had actually stopped a single thing, you can bet your ass they’d be trotting out specifics.

They, again, mention the NYC subway bombing, even though that story has already been debunked (and is even debunked in the link to this quote!) so it’s clear that there have been no such plot foils that happened using information gleaned under this data gathering initiative.

I found these old German Reich Bank Notes, or Marks, folded up in the stacks of paper I’ve been going through. These notes came from the era of the historic collapse of the German economy post World War One. A common story that is related by almost all history teachers to that time is that it took a wheelbarrow of Marks just to buy a loaf of bread. While being an interesting anecdote it really doesn’t give any details. So I decided to look it up and found this interesting chart that shows the absurd spike in inflation that took place. So absurd that when these types of Marks were ended in 1924 by the Weimar Republic it took 4 Trillion of them to equal 1 U.S. dollar.

I don’t know how these came into my hands. Maybe some distant cousin sent them to one of my ancestors in America (these did come down from the German side of my family). Or maybe they picked them up from someone in Chicago. I do know that someone in my family collected a few coins here and there. So maybe they thought they would be worth holding on to for one reason or another. Either way, their financial value today is worthless, but historically they do hold some value because of the time period they represent. But don’t get too excited. The most expensive one I found is the last one, which in really great shape on ebay was going for about 10 bucks. Though, considering their utterly worthless value they had when printed, they have indeed increased exponentially in value.
